Chuao Chocolatier voluntarily recalled a single lot of their Potato Chip Mini Bar snack on Friday (May 3) due to the undisclosed presence of hazelnut. According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, consumers who are allergic to hazelnut could experience a "serious or life-threatening" reaction to the product.

There is a possibility that the undeclared ingredient is present in LOT 4022 of the company's Potato Chip Mini Bar snack. The lot code in question was distributed to retail stores nationwide including Hawaii and Alaska, and online throughout the U.S. This lot of Potato Chip Mini Bar snacks is the only Chuao Chocolatier product affected by the recall.

Individuals with a hazelnut allergy should be weary of products with a UPC code of 872629006615 and a Best Buy date of February 22, 2025. Though the label mentions that the product was “manufactured in a facility that uses tree nuts and wheat on shared equipment,” it does not single out hazelnuts. Individuals who consume the product with a hazelnut allergy run the risk of a serious and even fatal reaction.

The FDA mentioned that one customer has already reported a mild allergic reaction as a result of consuming the product. Customers with a hazelnut allergy should avoid this product. Individuals with questions can contact (760) 814-6230 or support@chuaochocolatier.com for more information.
